Nothing will benefit health and increase the chances for survival of earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet, according to Albert Einstein. People should avoid eating meat in their daily life, but most people do not. Some people enjoy being vegetarian, but others prefer eating meat, chicken, sausage, being vegetarian is not easy for them. This essay will argue why people should go vegetarian and stop eating meat. Three main health problems connected to meat illustrate why people should keep far away from meat: diabetes, obesity, cancer.

Generally, diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Recent studies by researchers show that meat is one of the main reasons of diabetes. Furthermore, a study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that even modest consumption of red or processed meat significantly increases the risk of diabetes.

Another health problem. And more important, obesity. A University of Adelaide doctoral student found that meat contributes to obesity prevalence worldwide to the same extent as sugar. The study attributes nearly 13 percent of the obesity rate to the availability of meat, and obesity can led to other serious health issues.

The last one. And the most important one, Cancer. In 2015, the World Health Organization placed processed meats like bacon in the same category of cancer risk as asbestos and smoking cigarettes. Past studies corroborate the relation between meat consumption and an increased risk of cancer. In fact, one study found that compared to women who ate one serving of red meat a week, women who ate 1.5 servings of red meat a day had a 22 percent greater risk of developing breast cancer.

Of course, there’s other health problems related to meat, but these are the common and the serious ones. Bottom line: people should go vegetarian and stop eating meat.
